The word custom can conjure up feelings of excitement and also apprehension at the thought of committing to something you can’t change – after all, it’s custom. At Inspired Closets, we’re redefining custom closets. Manufactured to your exact specifications but designed and built in ways that give you incredible flexibility. As your needs change, so can your custom closet.

What features make my custom closet adjustable?

During your initial consultation, we will inventory your belongings so we can make recommendations about the kind of storage features that you need. Then we’ll take that information and together, create a design that begins with panels, shelves, and hanging rods. Learn more about how you can review your design here. Each panel is pre-drilled with two vertical rows of holes, one towards the front and one towards the back. Two panels create unique sections that will hold specific items in your closet. Shelves and hanging rods are cut to fit inside each section and installed using pins designed to support them. That way you can easily move shelves and hanging rods up and down within that section, placing them wherever you like, and you don’t even need any tools. The same is true for wire baskets and drawers because they too have a unique slide that can be removed and repositioned.

What if I want to change the layout of my custom closet?

We understand that life changes. And we also realize that after living with your closet, you might want to use your space differently. So, that is why we design with adjustability in mind. Your custom closet will maximize every inch of usable space with multiple sections on each usable wall. And whenever possible, we will design some or all of those sections in the same width. That way you can remove shelves, hanging rods, drawers, and baskets and move them to any section that matches that width. Want to move your hanging clothes to the front of the closet? No problem! Want to switch locations for belt racks, tie racks, valet rods, and more? Easy! All you need is a screwdriver and you’ll be all set. And the same is true for wire baskets and drawers.

What if I want to add custom features like drawers or more shelves?

Once you have been living with your closet for a while, you might decide you need more shelves, hanging rods, wire baskets, or drawers. Ordering new shelves and hanging rods is an easy task and even easier for you to install on your own. And for most anything else, nearly every section of your closet can be adjusted and/or redesigned after installation with professional assistance. For example, perhaps your wardrobe preferences have changed and you no longer need a long hang section. Instead, you’d like to turn that section into a bank of drawers. Just contact your designer and we can work together to order as many as you need in your new configuration. And we’ll be happy to help you install them too.
