A custom closet is a storage solution that’s designed specifically for your space, your belongings, and your habits—not a one size fits all rod and shelf. Because many closets are built with minimal thought (just a rod + top shelf), they often lead to under‐used space, clutter, or inefficient organization. It depends. Cost varies with the size of the space, how it’s configured, the materials, and the number of custom features. Smaller closets typically start around $5,000, although smaller reach in closets may cost less and large boutique-type closets cost more. A helpful rule: “more product = more cost.” Learn more here.
During a consultation, a designer will ask how you currently use (and don’t use) your closet, what’s working, and what isn’t. They’ll measure the space, bring samples of materials and hardware, and show preliminary design options via 3D rendering or by using Envision, our priority augmented reality software that lets you walk through your space. Yes. At Inspired Closets we use a 3D design software to show you renderings of your space. In addition to a 3D design, you can walk through your new closet in its fully transformed state before it’s ever built by using Envision by Inspired Closets. Our process starts with a free, one-on-one consultation in your home. We listen and apply what we learn to your custom design. Designing solutions in coastal communities presents unique challenges that we understand. No design is ever “cookie cutter.” Every decision we make is unique to your project and your home. Once the design is finalized, preparation and installation are scheduled and completed.

Step 1: Free Design Consultation
When you arrive for your free design consultation, we’ll discuss:
- The way your space is currently used
- The items that will need to be stored in your new space
- What is and isn’t working with your current closet storage situation
- The type of closet design that inspires you the most
Step 2: Custom Design Work
We’ll work with you to make smart design choices:
- We’ll explore designs that best match your needs
- We will recommend color palettes, layouts, and closet finishes
- You’ll find out more about our closet materials and hardware
- We will create a 3D rendering of your custom closet
Step 3: Site Preparation
During site preparation, our contracting team will:
- Offer clothing racks to keep your items safe and easily accessible
- Remove your existing organization system
- Prepare our walls for installation
Step 4: Installation and Staging
The big day is here! Our installation team will:
- Arrive on time to transform your existing closet space
- Work efficiently without interrupting your schedule
